OXYGEN FACTORY has the privilege of speaking to high school students every school day of the year. Since the founding of OXYGEN FACTORY we have collected and continue to collect great testimonies from teachers across Australia and New Zealand. Teachers have said many positive things about the impact of our seminars and these references may assist you in deciding what seminars you wish to book with OXYGEN FACTORY. Enjoy!
We thought Glen was tremendous - every single girl I have spoken with was full of praise and enthusiasm - exactly what I was aiming for. I have sent a report recommending Glen's seminar and expressing my desire to run with Glen again in the future.
Kate Lazar, Year Co-ordinator Queenwood School for Girls, March 2010
It is a pleasure to respond to Glen’s seminar on “Men of Honour”. I think it is best summed up by saying that Glen held 180 Yr 9 and 10 boys in the palm of his hands for 2 hours where they all took notes and listened without any teacher having to supervise in any way. The following day we had multiple requests to our Librarian to buy Glen’s books for them and every boy and teacher I spoke to told me how worthwhile, informative and necessary that the seminar was for our boys. It is now seen as a “must” for our Yr 9-12 young men as it complements our Pastoral Program so well.
Glen presented a very thoughtful, polished and motivational address to the students. They were engaged for the whole time. Even the Year 10 ‘boys’ were fully attentive. · Who am I? (self-awareness) · Why am I here? (meaning) · Where am I going? (destiny/direction)
These are all very relevant questions for our senior school students where our own school focus is on ‘Destiny.’ He encouraged students to strive for their dreams with the realization that “everything you need to achieve your dreams you already have within your reach”. He used the parable of the sower and the parable of the talents to work through these points with the students in an inspirational address. He also looked at thieves that will attempt to steal your dreams – people, life being unfair, time, self-doubt and negativity. Glen Gerryn is the best motivational speaker I have heard address students; we need to get him here every two years and use him to help us shift our cultural/academic paradigms.
David Gates, Head of Senior School, Shoal Haven Anglican School, NSW March 2010
Dear Glen,
Craig Mansour, Shoal Haven Anglican School, NSW March 2010
We have had Glen coming to our Senior Seminar Week for the last 3 years. This week was started instead of a camp and Glen presents “Day of Hope” to our Year 11s and “Study Smart” to our Year 12s. Glen has helped us to change the culture of our senior school and over the last 2 years we have seen a paradigm shift amongst the students and staff. Prior to 2009 our highest UAI was around 94 and we rarely had a student in the 90s. We would get a few band 6’s each year in 1 or 2 subjects. Since we started this week, followed by a study program & mentoring Year 12s one-on- one, we have seen a huge change. 2008 we had a student break the paradigm and get a UAI of 96, and we got 9 Band 6s. 2009 we broke through again. We had 35 students and our top girl got an ATAR of 97.45. She said she set her target for 99 when Glen said to aim for the impossible and she almost hit it! Two other students got in the 90’s for the first time ever. One of the boys also got a $20,000 scholarship to do Business (Advanced leadership) at UWS. He said his turning point was the week when Glen came out and he set his dream goals. He worked harder after this. We got 12 Band 6s over 7 subjects and 50% of our students got into university. Our students now believe they can get 99! And we are believing that each year we will shift that paradigm again.
Lyn Jagger, Penrith Christian School, NSW March 2010
Glen Gerreyn is very engaging and inspiring to both students and staff alike. He is able to keep the whole year group engaged and interested for the entire time. The comments from the Year 10 students were positive and some students were very disappointed that they couldn’t have the full day program. All students unanimously agreed that it had been a good use of their time with some really positive ideas and challenges.
John Starreveld, Dean of Students, Knox Grammar School Wahroonga NSW, June 2009
Glen, thank you so much for an insightful session with our Year 10 students. The “Day of Hope” was the perfect introduction to our year, with the girls coming away highly motivated and with loads of strategies to assist them achieve their goals. The students were touched by your “real story” and inspirational message which were presented in a dynamic and passionate manner. You left the girls buzzing with excitement! Thank you again for a truly professional and inspirational day! “Today we will be magnificent!”
Cheryl Rugg, Year 10 Coordinator Kincoppal Rose Bay NSW, February 2009
Glen Gerreyn is an extraordinary communicator, clearly motivated by a passion for his message of hope for every child, for every teenager, and for every adult. In an age where cynicism is synonymous with maturity, Glen taps into the secret hopes and dreams of young people, validates who they are and who they are called to be, and then teaches constructive, responsible and practical steps to completing the journey. It flies in the face of contemporary culture yet Glen delivers a message that teenagers are insatiably hungry to hear. Dr Briony Scott - Principal, Roseville College NSW 2008 Glen spoke from the heart about his own life experiences, which resonated with our Reddam House students. His delivery was dynamic and inspirational, insightful and entertaining.
Julie Vince, Reddam House NSW, October 2008
The students were once again enthralled by the addiction program. They found the information very valuable and at their level. The prefect seminar was brilliant. Our prefects have been to other schools and they rate this one as the best, the leaders from the other schools were as equally impressed. The new information was superb on Gandhi, as well as giving them the insight into being a good leader. Glen presented with a lot of passion.
Steve Levy - Head of Leadership, Masada College NSW, July 2007
For my Year 11 students I was looking for a program that would inspire and provide them with skills that could be used in the time before and after their HSC when they can experience times of discouragement and failure. The three day program was perfect. Glen and his team made the students feel empowered and confident. They provided them with skills for dealing with the challenges faced when they get bad marks, how to turn a bad situation into one that works for them. After the retreat I had many phone calls from parents saying how wonderful their daughter felt and how they had talked for hours upon their return home. Overwhelmingly the students truly feel inspired and they have learnt valuable lessons for life.
Gemma McDermott - Year 11 Coordinator, Ravenswood School for Girls NSW, June 2007
It was a pleasure listening to your success story and realising what can be achieved in life when you put your mind to it. ......we thank you and are looking forward to your next visit to our school. Lou Tome, Bulli High School, December 2009 We really loved the session with Glen. Our Year 10 boys are not the best behaved, and they were totally engaged by his talk. The other teachers present were astonished that he could hold their attention for so long. We had been going through a particularly difficult time at school, and were coming up to exams, so some well-chosen words were just what was needed. Many of the boys seemed to really take some of Glen's points to heart. He was able to get them to "own" tiny pieces of what he was talking about, and I'm sure that they will remember these pearls of wisdom forever. We would be happy to have Glen back.
Oxygen Factory delivered an incredibly inspirational workshop for our Year 10 boys. Glen not only maintained complete audience engagement for the entire day, he encouraged our boys to consider their dreams and goals, and consider small (and large) steps towards them. I would absolutely encourage other schools to use this program.
I want to thank you so much for changing my perception about these kids. The first day I walked in to the playground, I nearly turned around and walked straight back out. I could feel the negativity and sense of hopelessness - amongst staff and students. I have been there a week and find teachers are struggling just to control a class, many have simply given up. Of course the kids pick up on this, and figure 'what the hell - they don't believe in me, why should I?' Kids appeared to have no self discipline, or self respect, and that in turn translates in to their interactions with each other.
Casual Teacher, NSW school, September 2009
Glen had our year 12’s in the palm of his hand. Presentation, excellent. Content, invaluable.
Lois Simpson, Newcastle Grammar School, June 2009
Glen's content was not only appropriate but the manner in which it was presented, allowed for our students to focus on serious issues which are often not addressed in society. Engaging, relevant and timely.. Michael Caniato, Assistant Principal, Delany Collge, June 2009 There is no word in the Dictionary that suitably sums up Glen's presentation at Stella last month !!!!!! "Totally unbelievable" does not even seem to come close. He is brilliant.
Bronwyn Parker, Year 10 Co-ordinator, Stella Maris College, June 2009
Dear Glen, thank you for coming to visit Kincumber High School. Your motivation and positive attitude to life got through to a number of our students. There was a buzz of discussion after your visit. Keep up the great work!
Last Friday, Yr 10 students were the privileged audience of a dynamic and inspirational speaker, Glen Gerreyn who delivered an outstanding ‘Day of Hope’ program. Throughout Glen’s presentation the girls were equipped with different motivational skills and strategies to assist them in achieving their dreams and goals. Glen’s program was visually stimulating and actively involved the girls thought the entire day. His ability to involve initially reluctant students was truly amazing to witness. Both the messages and ideas delivered by Glen definitely impacted on the girls, most of whom are still talking about the absolutely wonderful experience.” Nicole Boyde, Stella Maris College Manly NSW, May 2009
Your presence the first night of our camp was terrific! The students really enjoyed your energy and different way of presenting things. Denise McDonogh, Head of Senior College, Central Coast Grammar School NSW, March 2009
We were sold on Study Smart for our Yr 10-12 students when we saw students who rarely engage and have to be forced to write in class be totally mesmerised by Glen and his professional presentation. The students filled their notebooks with his hints and talked about him for the rest of the week in class. Definitely pleased that we booked this for our students.
I would like to thank Glen Gerreyn and the Oxygen factory for the outstanding program you have now run for our school for the last three years. The message and ideas in the Day of Hope program really impacted on the girls who are still talking about the day, and the inspiration and tools they gained will hopefully stand them in good stead for not only the rest of their education but the rest of their lives. I would not hesitate to recommend Glen and the program to any other school or organisation dealing with young people and in fact we have already booked next years session for our school!
Chris Johnson, Macarthur Girls High School NSW, February 2009
Year 12 loved listening to Glen talk about "Study Smart" and didn't want to leave!!! This was a very positive experience for them and woke them up to the possibilities available to them if they put in the work.
Anita Curtis, Davidson High School NSW, February 2009
We recently had Glen give the half Day Of Hope seminar to both our Year 11 and Year 12 students. Since that time these students have continually thanked us for organising the opportunity to listen to Glen. They sat transfixed for the entire program, entirely engrossed by the message Glen had for them. Our students and staff could relate to the humanity of Glen through his own story of strength and frailty, which he revealed with humour and passion. As the organiser of the seminars, the entire Oxygen Factory team were professional and friendly, making the whole process easy to manage. We look forward to working with them in the future.
Paul Forrester, Trinity Catholic College NSW, October 2008 A proffesional, relevant and very engaging presentation on an increasingly important issue. The presentation was informative, without preaching, which students appreciated and actively engaged in. Both the content and the presenter were very impressive.
House Coordinator, Mount St Benedict College NSW, August 2008
Glen proved to be the pivotol part of our Year 11 Crossroads program. Through personal, unique and inspiring stories, delivered with total commitment and sincerity he invites each student to open the door to their own potential. The seminar on addiction was both engaging and informative. Students gained valuable knowledge on the process of addiction and had their perspectives widened on what can become addictive - including such things as MySpace. In presenting fundamental issues to young people and showing the elements of choice through real life examples Glen is able to assist students in taking an objective look at Generation Y and to view with hope and optimism their individual place within it, equipping them to make better life choices.
Lorna Quinn - Careers Advisor and Emily Mitchell - School Youth Worker, Cheltenham Girls' High School NSW, June 2008
Thank you so much for our Day of Hope. I have had so much positive feedback from Year 10 girls. Something came alive in both students and staff on Tuesday and it was a refreshing and positive day for us all. I heard comments about inspiration, motivation, goals, dreams, not giving up, fresh starts and direction. What a fantastic boost into the future. All students should be part of this kind of program, I don't think they will forget this day. I won't.
Nicole Boyde, Year 10 Coordinator Stella Maris College NSW, May 2008
Glen was fantastic when he presented to our Year 10 girls the Day of Hope. His engagement of the students is unprecedented and the genuine inspiration he creates within the students is so impressive. Many students have stated that it was the most rousing and powerful day they have had here at school. Not only does he motivate them, he provides them with the tools to sustain that motivation - essential with teenagers!
Carrie Scanlan, Year 10 Coordinator Kincoppal Rose Bay NSW, April 2008
It is amazing to see the effect Glen has on the students he speaks to. For many they feel that they are being made to listen to yet another speaker and they appear disinterested, maybe only at the seminar as it means time off classes. Yet each time I have heard Glen it is fascinating to watch the change in attitude - the laughter, and the leaning in to catch every word. He has the rare ability to make teenagers really listen, often for extended periods of time, and to take aboard what they have heard. Thank you for inspiring our students yet again.
Nicole Murray - SRC Coordinator, Teacher Librarian The Forest High NSW, May 2008
Dear Glen, Last week you came to UWS to present the 'Day of Hope' program to my Year 11 students. I would like to personally thank you for being so inspirational to these girls. You spoke with so much passion and emotion. I am so pleased that people like you still exist. It is quite obvious that your life experiences gave you that inner strength and through your captivating talks to our youth today, you convey the message of believing in yourself, to set goals and aim high. You cannot possibly imagine the number of students that approached me this week to let me know how your talk has changed their outlook to their studies and life altogether. I hope that you will continue as long as you can. You have a great gift!
Kaye Spinos, Year Advisor Macarthur Girls High School NSW, February 2008
Glen's presentation was extremely motivational. He had our students engaged the entire time. Not only did the students come away inspired but so did the teachers. A truly, outstanding presentation that all students deserve to hear.
John Anastas, Curriculum Coordinator All Saints Grammar School NSW, February 2008
Recently the Oxygen Factory visited Moree. The day we organised was different to many as the local theatre was filled with students from our town's 3 high schools. Glen's presentation was magnificent. In 18 years of teaching I have never witnessed student enthusiasm like it. 250 students completing their workbooks and writing down their goals at the same time. A staff member from our local Christian school was moved to tears by Glen with the power of his message. We have noticed a shift in student and teacher attitudes since the Oxygen Factory's visit. The overall mood is so much more positive. Moree is now an Oxygen Factory town! We look forward to seeing Glen and his staff next year as a visit from the Oxygen Factory is now an annual event. Thank you.
Sean Baldwin - Assistant Principal Secondary, St Philomena's Moree NSW, December 2007
The students found it a wonderful experience. They went home full of enthusiasm, to the point we had parents ringing the next day to thank us for organising the day. The word of Glen quickly spread Year 11 who now keep asking when their day will be held. Glen kept their attention throughout - even those who had shown great reluctance at coming for a motivational day.
Nicole Murray - SRC Coordinator, Teacher Librarian The Forest High NSW, December 2007
I was a very 'happy camper' on my return yesterday - the whole camp was a success. As usual the presentations were of a very high standard, and there was much positive feedback from the students. They were 'buzzing' after their sessions. The more I work with the Oxygen Factory, the more I see the need to have you present a whole program for us on camp!
Greg Robinson - Head of Senior School, Hunter Valley Grammar School NSW, November 2007
I have known and worked with Glen Gerreyn over a period of some four years in my capacity as Year Adviser at Narrabeen Sports High School. During that time I have regularly enlisted his services as a motivational speaker, to fire students’ imagination and help them focus on their goals for the future. Glen has become our ‘go-to’ presenter by virtue of his thought-provoking programs, delivered in a style that is as energetic as it is passionate. His presentations invariably impress students, leaving them with a new resolve and hope for the future. I am delighted to recommend Glen to any prospective employer.
Mark Warburton - Year 11 Adviser, Narrabeen Sports High School NSW, June 2007
We love Oxygen Factory! Your professionalism makes you our first choice in Personal Development programs and we can always rely on your team to deliver a dynamic and relevant presentation. We love that you are able to scratch the itch of this generation and can speak their language to give them the life skills and motivation that they need to reach their full potential! Thank you! The Girlfriendship program was excellent! Mary’s presentation was so relevant, thorough, informative and fun. On every topic the girls were a captive audience and they loved the chance to indulge in girl talk for the day! I know that this seminar impacted our girls and has significantly helped the dynamic of the year group. Thanks Oxygen Factory!
Anna Payne - Youth Pastor, Oxford Falls Grammar School NSW, June 2007
Glen Gerreyn has supported Pennant Hills High School students for the last four years. We continue to work with Glen as his programs are most thought provoking and engaging, leaving students with a great sense of hope and belief in themselves. His presentations go well beyond the basic motivational spiel and truly inspire students at a much deeper level.
Belinda Campbell - Head Teacher of Welfare, Pennant Hills High School NSW, May 2007
Our students found Glen's sessions very interesting and he held their interest for all sessions. Glen's personal experiences helped to make the seminar realistic and his personality and charisma appealed to our students. The work book was good and many students showed their classroom teachers what they had put in them. I will be booking Glen again next year.
Anne Bright - Welfare Coordinator, Glendale Technology High School NSW, May 2007
The Day of Hope presentation by Glen was positively greeted by our year 9 students. It provided a new insight into adolescence and was able to light a fire into their bellies. The students were captivated by Glen's personal experiences and the visual support was inspirational. We look forward to inviting Glen back in future years.
Michael Behayi - Year 9 Coordinator, Waverley College NSW, May 2007
In July this year we booked Glen Gerreyn from the Oxygen Factory for the "Day of Hope." Before the seminar I had some concerns that the seminar may be long on style & hype & short on substance, leaving the students hyped up, but with little of lasting value. Happily, my fears were totally unfounded.
Rod Ritchie - HSIE & Yr 12 Coordinator, Wagga Christian College NSW, July 2006
I am writing to sincerely thank you for your wonderful session “Addiction” presented to our Year 10 students as part of our 2006 Better Attitudes Health Day. An examination of student evaluations indicate a very high rating by students on “enjoyment value” and “usefulness value” for your session. Most students rated it the best session in the Year 10 Program. Great work Glen! See you next year.
Craig Teece - Deputy Principal, Riverside Girls High School NSW, June 2006
Year 12’s were fortunate to be involved in last Wednesday’s Community Day during which they were exposed to the exceptional motivational skills of Glen Gerreyn. I am confident that each student will have taken from the day some powerful, self-affirming ideas for the ‘journey’. Glen’s discourse, reinforced by his visual presentation, covered a broad and challenging range of notions which included; If the student’s rapt attention was a true guide, then Glen currently has some highly positive evaluations in hand. Glen’s presentation exceeded my expectations. The whole area of personal goal-setting, motivation, synthesising life experiences and defining some purpose in life is a crucial (if sometimes neglected) one in schools.
John Murray - St Paul’s High School, Booragul NSW, February 2006
Glen has been coming to Mackellar Girls Campus for four years to get our students motivated. His seminars are terrific! The students all become involved and leave with such a positive frame of mind. His presentation skills are amazing - he is able to hold the 180 students spellbound during his presentations. His support material is also excellent! I cannot recommend Glen highly enough as an outstanding presenter and motivator.
Judy Hurditch - HT Girls Education, Mackellar Girls Campus, Northern Beaches Secondary School NSW, February 2006
Glen has impressive personal skills in communicating with young people. He is aware of each individual in the group with which he is working. He works with staff and sees himself not simply as an individual motivator but as part of a team which is committed to the welfare of young people. I recommend him to you as a young man whose commitment to working with our youth is evident in his program and the relationship he establishes with students.
Lorriane Caulfield - Leadership Coordinator, Tara Anglican School for Girls NSW, November 2005
I would like to extend a huge thank you to you for speaking to our Year 11 students last week. The feedback I have received has been awesome, with students and teachers commenting on how dynamic and great you were. I have not heard a single negative comment. Thank you again for your time and effort and we hope to see you again next year.
Trudi Rothery - Crossroads Coordinator, Cheltenham Girls High School NSW, May 2005
I have had the enormous privilege of knowing Glen Gerreyn for two years, after engaging him to work in a professional capacity at our school. Glen conducted a series of five x two hour seminars for students in Years 11 and 12 on work ethic, self-discipline and motivation. His presentations were outstanding, visually stimulating and actively engaged students from a wide variety of backgrounds and beliefs. It was extraordinary to be able to witness the transformation he wrought in those students who were initially reluctant to be involved. On the basis of the impact he had on these students, I requested him to conduct a seminar for our 70 teaching staff on goal setting and challenging limitations. This was very well received and is a testament to his ability to modify style and content according to his audience. During this time I have been most impressed by his meticulous and proficient attitude in presenting concepts and ideas in a manner that is engaging and challenging, yet not overwhelming to the listener.
Briony Scott - Former Head of Senior School, Oxford Falls Grammar School NSW, September 2004
Glen Gerreyn is an extraordinary talent. He has the capacity to engage a group of 145 adolescent students all day and taken them on an insightful, stimulating and rewarding journey. That is a special gift! Glen was the key speaker at our Year 11 RE Day earlier this year at which he challenged the students to consider their talents and review the negative thinking which was limiting their performance personally and educationally. He also provided a range of activities and discussions which encouraged the girls to rethink their interior dialogue and to take risks which gently took them beyond their comfort zone. Glen also ran a RE Day for Year 10 students on the key issue of using your talents to serve your community. He focused on the way in which we are liberated from our thinking small by realising that we grow by sharing our talents with others. The girls were inspired, enthused and ready to change their behaviour. On a personal level I have found Glen and the Oxygen Factory to be professional in all aspects of their operation. They are well prepared, flexible and reliable. Glen always evaluated his work with the students and discusses the outcome of the day with you. His manner is delightful and his integrity admirable. Glen is a talent. The students trust him; the staff are moved by his tremendous energy and spirit. The parents are so grateful that their children have had the experience.
Virginia Ryan - Religious Education Coordinator, Marist Sisters’ College Woolwich NSW, August 2004
The feedback given to me about Glen's address in the Ravenswood chapel was outstanding. Many students said that he was the best speaker they had ever heard. His message was discussed throughout the senior part of the school. My opinion is that Glen is a highly skilled communicator. He uses his humor and his personal warmth to convey a practical message tested in his own experience. His message gave a sense of being touched by grace.
Reverend Barbara Oldmeadow - Chaplain, Ravenswood School for Girls NSW, March 2004
An inspirational presenter who has the unique ability to grasp the attention of his audience from the moment he enters the room and does not surrender it for a second. He keeps the audience engaged, interested and makes them feel important....a role model for young people who are searching for a credible street wise and confident leader.
Matt Hutchinson - Former Deputy Headmaster, Waverley College NSW, March 2004
The students were fully focused from the moment Glen began addressing them. He spoke the students language, citing examples that were contemporary and using his life story to gain their empathy. The impact of his motivating words was significant, with the students quoting from his address in the following weeks.
Wendy Barel - Head of Curriculum, Masada College NSW, November 2003
Glen recently ran a Year 10 Spirituality Day at Holy Spirit College, Lakemba. His resources are contemporary and pitched at the level of the students. His content and delivery were excellent. The students were mesmerized for the whole day! Not one behavioural problem! Students continued to quote Glen once they were back at school. His presentation would be particularly suited to Years 10-12. Glen also worked with Holy Spirit Staff for a two hour session. He was motivational and well received. His incorporation of music, quotes, personal stories and movies in his presentation to get his message across is effective and powerful.
Elisa Stravropoulos - Religious Education Coordinator, Holy Spirit College Lakemba NSW, September 2003
Glen’s hour and a half long presentation at the REC Day in August this year was powerful, motivational and uplifting. Through a variety of mediums - music, personal stories, quotes and movies he captured the attention and imagination of all present. Glen clearly demonstrated his willingness and his ability to share his personal faith story with both students and staff alike. His competent presentation, obvious organisational skills, positive attitude and versatility in his ability to address a range of topics depending on the needs of a specific audience/school make him a valuable guest speaker for reflection days, leadership days and retreats.
Louise Robinson - Secondary RE Adviser, CEO Inner West NSW, September 2003
It was inspirational - I have not seen anyone connect so quickly with boys in a group of this size. His ability to grab their attention was exceptional. The message he delivered to the boys was powerful and his sincere and genuine interest in them was evident.
Tim Wallace - Head of PDHPE, Shore NSW, 2003
The session was dynamic and inspiring in every way. I have never seen this particular group of girls so enthused by a presentation. Glen has obviously refined a highly professional presentation which has enormous appeal to young people. In the weeks following the presentation girls spoke to me individually about how much they has got out of the experience. They felt that it helped them re-focus on their goals and gave them a sense of hope.
Julianne Barrs - Year 11 Coordinator, Brigidine College St Ives NSW, May 2003
His ability to hold his audience in articulating not only his own story but the stories of people from the sporting world and contemporary culture complimented by a most professional multimedia presentation is outstanding. He combines the factual aspects of his presentation with a wonderful mixture of humour which engrosses the audience in a most entertaining way.
Mary Roumanos - Acting REC, Trinity Catholic College NSW, May 2003
His presentation was outstanding consisting of visual and audio materials. His handouts were relevant and useful, well received by all our students. Our student evaluations were highly positive with the majority of our girls asking for Glen to return for a full day seminar. We have no hesitation in recommending Glen as an inspiring motivational speaker and we look forward to him running more events for our student in the near future.
Mrs S. Bilali - Head Teacher Welfare, Auburn Girls’ High School NSW, April 2003
Our school has begun what I consider to be an extremely rich working relationship with Glen Gerreyn as a result of many discussions about the problems adolescents face, what motivates them and how they can overcome difficulties and achieve their goals. Glen has delivered a whole-day seminar for Year 10 students which dealt with matters such as motivation, self-confidence and personal goal setting. The program was supported by up-to-date visual and audio material, workshops and discussion groups as well as Glen’s personal experiences, anecdotes and philosophy. The program was delivered to 170 students who responded very positively. Some comments from the student evaluations sheets include; “I think the presentation was really inspiring. The way you conduct it makes everyone feel like an individual and understand they have a meaning to their life.” As a result of the positive reaction from the students and the accompanying staff members who attended the Year 10 seminar, the school has engaged Glen as our motivator/life development coordinator. Following our discussion about the expectations and demands of each year group and the associated social and academic problems, Glen is developing individual programs for each year group. We hope to continue the relationship between the girls and Glen and his team throughout their high school life. This unique idea of being the same motivator/life skills coordinator from Year 7 to 12 establishes a relationship which will be beneficial for the girls, as Glen and his team examine issues specific to each year group which encompass social, emotional and academic growth. I highly recommend Glen and his program to you.
Kerry Rose - Deputy Principal Mackellar Girls’ Campus, Northern Beaches Secondary College NSW, November 2002 Jane engaged the students straight away and we got lots of positive feedback about her presentation. I was also pleased to see that her advice on depression was evidence based and practical. She drew the kids in with personal stories but also gave them a positive and effective message.
Staff and students were very impressed by Glen and the quality of his performance. His message reached students in a most effective and powerful way. We are delighted that students have signed up for oxygen uptake. What better reference! We will be looking to book Glen in the future.
Sandy Darley - St Clare’s College ACT, September 2006
Very motivational. Gave a greater insight into how our brains work. I have found the information Glen gave today at my school's seminar is undervalued in todays society and its importance is under the radar. The depression statistics although sad and confronting highlight the severity and the lack of indentity among youth in a very clear way. Teacher
The Men of Honour program which was delivered at Mareeba State High was the best program of its type which I have seen. The speaker was able to capture the interest of boys and maintain this for a period of 2 hours. The topics were well targeted for the boys to follow and also provided for the topics to be followed up by interested male staff. Thankyou.
Serge Venturato, Mareeba State High School QLD, June 2009
Glen Gerreyn has the gift to engage his audience from beginning to end no matter what the age. To see 130 Year 11 students, crammed in one hot room, as focussed at 3pm as they were at 9am was an absolute awesome experience for our staff. The Year 12 students on their Personal Development Day and the staff on their Inservice Day were just as inspired. Glen combined his motivational messages with stories of his personal journey and research based content. Glen’s passionate method of delivery is such that the audience is able to feel very much that Glen is speaking to each person individually. Students and staff alike have subsequently quoted numerous parts of Glen’s sessions. Glen is a refreshing speaker who shares from the heart numerous strategies for success that the audience can begin to work on immediately.
Di Tamer, Head of Pastoral Development, Clayfield College QLD, February 2009
We have had Glen come and speak to our Year 11 and 12s for a number of years now and I am always amazed at the students' response. The Year 11s who participate in 'The Day of Hope' come out with a new life vision and determined to change their paradigms of what they think and who they believe they are. They are able to sit and listen to Glen for an entire day which is no mean feat with today's generation. The Year 12s listened to Glen's study skills session and came away with some really great ideas and very practical strategies on how to get organised and stay motivated throughout the year. This is a must do at the beginning of every year.
Julie Just, Head of Year 12 Christian Outreach College QLD, February 2009
We are delighted and inspired by Glen's presentation at Lourdes Hill College. The students came away highly motivated and eager to put into practice some of the ideas that Glen presented to them. I was particularly impressed by the way that he challenged the girls to get out of their comfort zone and not to accept mediocre. His AV material was brilliant! The day was an ideal lead-in to the outdoor challenge we had two days later and also fitted perfectly with our current leadership program. We look forward to Glen's visit in 2009!
Bruce Reid, Lourdes Hill College QLD, October 2008
As professional communicators we really admired the slickness of your presentation and the polished way you work. The range of examples and very different stories and quotes that you used ensures that you hooked people whatever their range of interests. We thought we were giving you a tough gig working with 420 boys from Years 8 to 12. We were very impressed with how you took it in your stride and kept them with you all the way. More than impressive!
Rob Stones - Principal, Southport State High School QLD, August 2008
A breath of fresh air for male students in school. The fatherless society in which many boys live is definitely creating social problems of mammoth proportions. The seminar is very motivational and inspiring and general feedback amongst the students has been positive.
After Glen presented the "Men Of Honour" seminar I overheard a couple of boys saying how 'cool' it was to have someone speak to them in their own language. I butted in and asked what they liked best and basically they were impressed by Glen's frankness and willingness to share his personal struggle.
Teacher, Southport State High School QLD, August 2008
Christian Outreach College Brisbane has had Glen Gerreyn come to speak to our Year 11 and 12s for a number of years. He gives the students an excellent perspective on life and shows them how to aim high and achieve greatness. He does this by giving students tools to use in their life as well as changing their paradigms on life. The students are always amazed at how quickly the day goes and how much they have been given. Thanks again Glen and see you next year.
Julie Just - Senior Head of Year, Christian Outreach College Brisbane QLD, February 2008
A very positive and affirming seminar for our VET students who often struggle to achieve their best in life.
Carolyn Wilkinson, St Mary's Catholic College Cairns QLD, February 2008
This is the second time I have heard Glen's Hour of Power presentation. I have found it ideal to present towards the end of Year 12 as Glen captures the essence of what will be important for the immediate future for the boys. Glen's fast and energetic delivery grasps everyone's attention. It is particularly relevant for us in an all boys' school to have a young, dynamic male like Glen to motivate, as the boys are able to identify with him and be inspired by him. The visuals, quotes and tips he uses all play an impressive role in complementing his presentation. I have found his Study Smart presentation particularly relevant to Year 11 students who are just beginning to find their studies a little overwhelming compared with what they did in Year 10. Glen helps them to focus on their goals and gives a practical breakdown of tips for success. The boys are generally a little apprehensive about a session with a title which includes the word 'study'. However, once Glen gets started, he soon grabs and maintains the attention of the 150 boys in his audience. The fact that boys come up to Glen after his presentation to thank him and to tell him how much they appreciated what he had to say is a testament to his outstanding ability as a motivator. I'm looking forward to having Glen here in 2008 for a presentation I have not yet seen, his Half Day of Hope combined with Men of Honour for our Year 12 boys.
Lynne Yeabsley - Director of Pastoral Care Head of Languages, Toowoomba Grammar School QLD, December 2007
The nine staff that attended the Day of Hope seminar and the Year 11 form were buzzing literally for days afterwards. From all reports Glen walked on water and was a huge hit at all levels. We would love to have him back in 2008. Once again, thank you for what your company has brought to our college. The boys thought Glen rocked and the staff said he was the best presenter come entertainer the school has ever invested in. Cheers, from an extremely satisfied audience. Please pass on our highest regards to Glen and thank you for all the communication and your professionalism.
Andrew Fellenburg - Head of House, Year 11 Coordinator St Mary’s College Toowoomba QLD, October 2007
Glen you have had more success in your life, so far, than most people would be happy to achieve in a lifetime. After hearing your 'Hour of Power' session, I wrote down words that describe your achievements; 'brave', 'enthusiastic', 'amazing', 'passionate', 'inspirational', 'self motivated' come to mind. At the end of the hour I was exhausted after listening to what you have done. I spoke to my class straight after the session and asked the students to reflect on some of the things you had said. The one thing that the student's kept on saying was, they liked the fact that you had 'lived your dream and this was no ordinary story'. They could see that you had set backs in life and you dealt with these. You rebounded and attacked life and you made a difference. Your 'Yellow Brick Road' analogy was well received, as was your 'Generational Trends' reflection. This was in my opinion an excellent concept as it really did justify how students can view the three personal development questions; 'Who am I', 'Why am I here' and 'Where am I going'. This presentation made the students understand that they must be 'willing to pay the price' for what they want to achieve. You certainly challenged the students when they were asked to reflect on their two most important days of their life; 1. The day you were born and 2. The day you discover why? Thanks for your message and your infectious enthusiasm, we look forward to seeing you next year and making your presentation a key part of the Year 9 program.
Shaun Griggs - Year 9 Coordinator, Ormiston College QLD, October 2007
I am a teacher from Whitsunday Anglican School and I have recently attended a session with the Oxygen Factory in Mackay. Glen Gerreyn was a very inspirational speaker. He related well to the students and had them sitting on the edge of their seats. He made it clear that it is important to plan and have goals and be positive and imaginative. His presentation was snappy and never got too boring on one topic. With the time allowed Glen did an excellent job. I believe that Glen will support the program with the weekly emails and this will help the tutors and their role with the workbook. Overall I believe it will be quite helpful for our students.
Don Edwards - Head of Charles House, Whitsunday Anglican School QLD, July 2007
As usual the Seminar Glen presented was fantastic, the kids loved it and he seems to connect with the students in a really thoughtful way. The feedback was all positive, they got plenty out of it and apparently a number of the booklets were thoroughly completed over the holidays. We would love to have him back next year.
Tanya Robinson – Director of Pastoral Care, All Saints Anglican School QLD, June 2007
St Luke's Anglican School is a small independent school in Bundaberg, approximately 4 hours north of Brisbane. Students in rural and regional Queensland often do not have the opportunities to see, or hear, quality motivational speakers. There are a number of committees and groups within the local community that work hard to provide these opportunities however; being able to see and hear a speaker like Glen Gerreyn was amazing. The program was targeted towards our Year 11 students who are currently focusing upon leadership positions for 2008. The staff and student feedback from the day was fantastic. - Students found the day very inspiring and highly motivating. (Staff member) The content that was presented was designed to inspire the students, urging them to reach their goals and asking them to question their previous thoughts and goal setting process. In a school that asks it students to strive for best performance, having a presenter that asks them to look and re-evaluate their goals that they thought were unattainable was very refreshing. The Oxygen Factory provided a great service that the students enjoyed immensely. I will certainly be looking to utilise this company into the future, with comments from staff that other programs on offer appeared very suitable for other year levels.
Russell Deer - Head of Campus, St Luke's Anglican school Bundaberg QLD, May 2007
Glen presented the “Day of Hope” to our Year 11 students followed by an in-service to our staff. Both groups found the sessions informative and inspirational. By mid-year our Year 11 students need some motivational input to rekindle the resolutions they made at the beginning of the year. This day was an opportunity that they appreciated to review their goals and priorities. Glen is a dynamic and interesting motivator. Both staff and students resonated with what he said. I would certainly recommend him for seminars with both teachers and senior students.
Pat Wall - Principal, Shalom College Bundaberg QLD, May 2007
Our students had a wonderful day with Glen on the Day of Hope. He managed to motivate, inspire and capture the imaginations of a tough crowd – and maintained the most amazing level of energy throughout the day. His sessions, and the activities contained therein, provided great food for thought and action for our students. It was a successful way to begin our year and we look forward to working with Oxygen Factory in the future.
Ms S McGarry - Head of England House, Brisbane Girls Grammar School QLD, February 2007
Thank you so much for enabling Glen to get here yesterday. I was so upset when I thought we were going to miss out on him. The boys here think he is fantastic. The Year 11 boys did in March and now the Year 12 boys. Several even asked him for his autograph. I passed some in the school grounds yesterday and they all made comment to me about how awesome he was. Others were talking about him in my class today. So, again thank you.
Mrs Lynne J Yeabsley - Director of Pastoral Care & Head of Languages, Toowoomba Grammar School QLD, October 2006
The Townsville Grammar School Year 11s have been privileged to attend an Oxygen Factory Study Smart workshop. For two and a half hours, presenter Glen Gerreyn held the students in the palm of his hand as he shared both his wisdom and advice.
Nicky Horstmann - Yr 11 Coordinator, Townsville Grammar School QLD, April 2006
We have had Glen Gerreyn present his "Day of Hope" to our seniors for two years now and have found the information to be very inspirational and motivating. Glen has a unique ability to be able to impart essential life giving information to whole groups of students that leaves them spell bound and asking for more. His use of work booklets is an added incentive for the students to stay on track and most of the students busily took notes - even those not known for listening and taking notes at any time! The idea that students can achieve and that they should not lose hope before they even begin is such a vital one in this day and age but Glen goes further than this as he also gives the students the tools they need to aim high and achieve.
Julie Just - Head of Year 12, Christian Outreach College QLD, January 2006
This is to certify that I have known Glen Gerreyn for a period of three years. During this time Glen has been a regular seminar leader in our Year 12 ‘Life and Belief Issues’ programme. Glen has specifically led a presentation called ‘Creating a Compelling Future.’ It is difficult for me to fully express how powerful these dynamic presentations have been in the lives of our students. The presentations have certainly assisted students to learn skills to assist them in living a positive and meaningful life. Through Glen’s sharing of personal obstacles within his own life, he has been an excellent role model of how to overcome difficulties. I have also been impressed with the high moral values that Glen seeks to impart. During the years Glen has visited the College, he has always been punctual and accommodating of the particular needs that relate to boys. The handouts and slides that he has used have been relevant and useful for students. I would therefore wholeheartedly commend Glen as a person who is able to powerfully communicate to young people and meaningfully address the issues that they face.
Graham Cole - Chaplain, Brisbane Boys College QLD, March 2001
It is with much pleasure that I am able to make reference for Glen Gerreyn whom I’ve had the privilege of knowing and working with over the last 18 months. Glen is an exceptional young man who has the great ability to touch the lives of young people with exceptional skill. I have been working with young people in leadership and development for over 15 years and I am yet to meet up with someone who has the gifts and talents of Glen. Glen has given so freely of his time and expertise to the Southern Cross Catholic College community. Glen has facilitated our Year 11 Leadership Program and offered several workshops for Year 10 – 12 students. The response from all the students has been overwhelming – they simply love his style, presence and genuine approach. On a personal note, I find myself in awe of his ability to speak his own story and allow the students to meet with him on their own level. It is great when young people can find a role-model who is young, authentic and true to their vision and value in life. Glen has my highest possible recommendation. I wish him well as his journey through life unfolds. I am thankful that our paths have crossed. Glen is a new century prophet!
Paul. T Skippen, Southern Cross Catholic College QLD, December 2000
Glen presented clearly and his message is excellent. His performance is engaging and his ideas are realistic and wonderfully challenging. Students and teachers alike must surely walk away feeling like they can take on the world!
Kate Quin, Head of Year 10-12 Loyola College VIC, March 2009
Glen Gerreyn presented "The Hour Of Power" to our Year 10 students at Sacred Heart Girls' College. I have seen many speakers work with students but none have held the students attention like Glen, his story is real and raw yet he delivered it with humour and honesty. The students were enthralled by Glen's obvious love of speaking and inspiring ideas which have clearly struck a chord with our students. There is no doubt in my mind that our students will remember Glen's visit and his thoughtful observations for many years to come. Rarely has an hour passed so quickly. Chris Moloney, Year 10 Coordinator Sacred Heart College VIC, October 2008
I wanted to thank everyone at the Oxygen Factory for a great first experience on behalf of Caroline Springs College. Glen came and presented the half Day Of Hope, he was of course brilliant and the kids loved it. I even had a number of students that had planned to leave after half an hour but then decided to stay on until the end once they heard Glen speak!! Glen is so inspirational that we as a college are looking to make Glen's presentation a regular event on our yearly calender for all our future Year 12 students and possibly staff!
Maria Hassan, Caroline Springs College VIC, September 2008
Thank you for the fabulous presentation of Day of Hope to our Year 12 students on Monday. I highly recommend this seminar to any school or group of students looking for an inspirational speaker. The presenter's vitality and energy would inspire any young person to think about what can be done to reach their dreams and goals by taking control of their own situation. As one of the students said, 'it was not so much about someone telling us what to do and why to do it but more about the presenter leading us towards believing anything is possible'.
Bruce Osborne, Deputy Principal and Head of Senior School Alphington Grammar School VIC, February 2008
Just a note to let you know how impressed the staff and students were with Glen's presentation at Loyola College. He was highly engaging and had the students hooked from the first minute. I would definitely recommend him to other schools and we look forward to having him back again.
Melanie Paino, Head of Year 11 and 12 Loyola College VIC, February 2008
Glen Gerreyn held the rapt attention of 200 Year 10 boys for 2 hours. This alone is indicative of how appropriate his material, called Men of Honour, was for the Year 10 boys. He captured their imagination, touched their souls and was inspirational in his spirit of determination to overcome adversity. Glen made a difference to our Year 10 students who talked about his presentation for some weeks later.
Elaine Hosie, Psychologist melbourne Grammar School VIC, November 2007
Glen is an excellent speaker very engaging and entertaining. The students respond well and learned a lot from him. Glen’s seminar on addiction was excellent. Thank you.
Sharon Boxer, Director of Commerce Westbourne Grammar VIC, July 2007
The Hour of Power presentation given to 200 Year 12 students last Friday was absolutely brilliant! Glen had the girls eating out of his hand; his message was very relevant and the students felt motivated, encouraged and inspired by his story. He is a very professional and effective public speaker using humour and technology to enhance his presentation. I would have no hesitation in recommending this presentation to other schools
Maria Lukesic, Year 12 Coordinator Sacred Heart College VIC, July 2006
It is a pleasure to recommend Mr Glen Gerreyn of Oxygen Factory. Mr Gerreyn is a regular speaker at our College and is highly regarded by the staff and students. He has delivered seminars to Year 8 and 9 levels, and will be meeting with the senior students in due course. His enthusiastic and energetic presentation of topical issues allows young people to relate readily to the concerns and challenges which arise in their day-to-day lives. Glen's vibrant manner and comfortable rapport with the children enables him to convey the message in terms in which the children relate easily. It is a delight to watch him encourage children of varying ability and confidence to try their best. There is invariable acclaim for Mr Gerreyn when the students are required to write a review of the program. Many praise him for his sense of confidence and direction he has brought into their lives. An added benefit to the students, is that Glen's themes and issues complement and reinforce the College's Life Skills program, which underpins our pastoral care ethos. He has my total support. Do not hesitate to contact me if you wish embellishment.
Shelton Bond, Head of Glenarthur lower Secondary School Aitken College VIC, March 2006- Phone 03 9333 1866
We have had many speakers for our girls and we have often had very good speakers but what you presented on Tuesday was just amazing. The buzz today and yesterday was wonderful. For some of the girls the impact was immediate and they are already thinking along different lines regarding controlling their lives and their opportunities. I am sure you get many thank you emails and letters but I hope that you realise this is not a standard thank you but a genuine and whole hearted comment to let you know that what you are doing does make a difference and for me as a person who is passionate about helping our young find a focus and direction this presentation was amazing. Your best endorsement comes from the girls themselves, they all hope we can arrange for your return visit next year. I am awaiting a reply from University College regarding accommodation for 2007 and then I will immediately book you for that time. The gods were looking after us though because it was far better for the presentation to be on Tuesday. rather than the Monday. What I gave the girls would have been so boring and flat compared to Glen's. Have a wonderful day and thank you for doing something with thought, passion and a real interest for the young people of tomorrow.
Lorna Probust, Fintona Girls School VIC, February 2006
Our Day of Hope seminar conducted by Glen Gerreyn and The Oxygen Factory for our Year 12 class was inspiring, thought provoking and at times an emotional rollercoaster. The students were captivated by Glen's program and his ability to relate to the students was a real pleasure to see. I have no doubt Glen changed some aspect of nearly every student in the forum. The students are still talking about Glen and this is weeks after the forum. We will certainly be signing up for next year.
Bruce Osborne, Deputy Principal and Head of Senior School Alphington Grammar School VIC, February 2006 Glen’s seminar was inspiring, as usual. The girls have been bringing up his suggestions and words of wisdom on a daily basis ever since. It has been very useful in our discussions with the girls during Academic Supervisions. Many of the girls have been talking about making some changes regarding their study habits based on Glen’s advice.
I believe Glen is a dynamic, inspirational and motivating speaker that reaches the youth of today, which in today's society is not an easy task. So keep up the good work.
Heather McInnes - Careers Counsellor, SACE, Vet, Year 11 Coordinator, Co-Head of Senior School, St Peter's Collegiate Girls' School SA, February 2008
Dear Glen, This is just a quick email to say how impressed...no, INSPIRED and rejuvenated I was after stopping in to catch the last hour of your talk on Friday to the students at the school I work at in Adelaide. You and your talk were fantastic. Just what the young ones (amid some of us young-oldies too) need to hear! To be reminded that there are so many possible wonderful things we can achieve in life and that it's okay to fail..as long as you PICK YOURSELF UP, DUST YOURSELF OFF! as you said :) Your enthusiasm and energy were wonderful and I intend to be a lot more like this in my daily life now, having felt the effects. I haven't felt so reinspired for years! I am now seriously dusting off some old (but still alive ) dreams of my own with a hope that is coming back to life. I could go on and on, but instead i'll just say.... THANKYOU again for what you are doing for young people and everyone. God bless you and your family and team's wonderful work. All the best for your success in reaching as many young people as possible with your life-affirming and great message.
The seminar was terrific. The students were really mesmerised, as was I, with Glen's presentation. For 16 year olds to still be listening intently after 6 hours, he must be doing something right! It was a great day and the students really got a lot out of it. The chatter in the yard the next day was certainly all about Glen and what he had to say and it has given the students some momentum as they head towards making important decisions regarding their subject choices for next year. We look forward to Glen presenting to our students again in 2008.
Leeanne Johnston-Bryan - Director of One Ninety, Pulteney Grammar School SA, August 2007
Dear Glen and Oxygen Factory Team, I am writing to express our sincere gratitude for the “Day of Hope” presentation you presented to our Year 12 students earlier this year. As was clearly evident from our students’ feedback 100% of them not only enjoyed the presentation, but also learnt a great deal about themselves and what it takes to be successful. Since your visit to Rostrevor, both students and staff have often referred to the day and used your content or stories to continually encourage our students to be the best they can be. We have every confidence that lessons learnt from this day will remain with these young men for the rest of their lives and we look forward to having you back at Rostrevor in 2008. Once again our heartfelt thanks.
Paul Belton - Head of Senior School, Rostrevor College SA, March 2007
Prior to Glen Gerreyn speaking to our Year 11 students at Loreto College, Marryatville there was a discussion in the staff room in which we pondered how one man was going to manage an audience of 130 girls for four hours let alone inspire and motivate them. Glen showed us it is possible to do all these things and more. The student feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Glen challenged students to dream, to challenge themselves, to take responsibility for their futures and to cope with the stresses of home and school. We would highly recommend Glen as a guest presenter. The Day of Hope programme is contemporary and cleverly targeted at teenagers. His presentation style is energetic and the content is thought provoking.
Meridie Howley - Year 11 Coordinator, Loreto College Marryatville SA, August 2006 Glen has presented to my Year 12 girls each year for some time now. I felt that this year’s presentations were amongst the best I have participated in and this confidence has been mirrored in comments from my girls. More significantly, I think, I have received many more comments from parents about the positive impact of Glen’s words and images than ever before. Ian Chidgey, Head of Year 12, St Mary's Anglican Girls' School, Karrinyup WA, 2010
When I realised that the 2007 Leaders' camp would have to run over the Australia Day holiday I knew that it would have to be very special. The very special people I found to deliver the weekend are Oxygen Factory. Glen Gerreyn and his team assembled and presented a very high impact weekend for the girls that has given them a tremendous springboard into a very demanding year. We take student leadership very seriously at St Mary's and Oxygen Factory lived up to all of my expectations by communicating, most effectively, the core values that underpin our approach to developing leadership skills; self awareness, honesty, integrity and a willingness to serve.
Ian Chidgey, Head of Year 12, St Mary's Anglican Girls' School, Karrinyup WA
In order to give our Grade 10 students a different experience of reflection day, we booked Glen, solely on the basis of the Oxygen Factory advertising material. Secretly, we didn't really think anyone could engage our 90 Grade 10 students single-handed for an entire school day. So we took a risk. In the event, Glen was amazing. He more than engaged our students, he in fact had them eating out of his hand, and no, their attention span did not wander as the day went on! As word of his success spread through the school, even staff who were not rostered to be present in the Hall, were dashing over there to see this miracle worker first hand!! The day was an unqualified success, and as a result we are booking Glen for 3 days in 2007. The students were positive, enthusiastic and complimentary in their feedback.
Margaret Rootes - Religious Education Coordinator, St Mary's College TAS, May 2006
The staff who were with me were very impressed and those who had heard Glen last year were very excited that he was back. We feel like old friends. He fitted into our peer support training day very well, but next yer my dream is to have him for longer in his own right - twice now this is what the students have asked for.
Donna McWilliam - Deputy Principal, St Patrick’s College Launceston TAS, July 2005
This is to put on record, on behalf of the Grade 9 students and teachers of Queechy High School, our sincere gratitude for the presentation by Glen Gerreyn in July this year. Glen skilfully engaged our Year 9 students with a very powerful message about empowering themselves in their own lives. Role models of this calibre have the capacity to change student's thinking and even their lives. I know from conversations with many students and teachers since, that the session had a very significant impact. As teachers we were all impressed with the style of presentation and also with the care the messages that came through about what we, as individuals can achieve with a little courage, perseverance and faith. What impressed me personally was that Glen spoke of the very real challenges that face our teenagers today with great insight and compassion
Kathy Davis - Principal & Troy Roberts - Assistant Principal, Queechy High School Launceston TAS, July 2005
On behalf of Alfriston College Board of Trustees, Principal, Senior Leadership Team, Staff and Students I would like to thank you for taking the time to visit our school. Thank you for your presentation to our students on Wednesday 5th April. All those present – staff and students – were overwhelmingly positive about the impact you made on them. Your presence and personal story were quite remarkable, and your message was clear, strong, simple and to the point. Above all your passion and optimism in young people shone through. It was a delight to watch you encourage children of varying ability and confidence to try their best. Our only regret was that we didn’t have the opportunity for you to spend longer with us – perhaps next time! Below are some of the comments that came from some of the students in the morning session afterwards;
‘He was one of the best speakers I have heard – he just got to the point.’
